Asset Variants and Specifications
The project maintains two primary background variants for all visual assets. Each variant optimizes the wordmark and icon colors to ensure visibility against specific background intensities.
| Background Type | Treatment Description | Path Example |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Black wordmark and wallet | assets/light-background/ |
| Dark or Black | White wordmark and muted wallet outline | assets/dark-background/ |

Technical Requirements for Logos
To maintain visual integrity, the branding system enforces strict technical rules for SVG masters and generated exports.
SVG Constraints
The generation script rejects any SVG file containing "live text" elements. All lettering must be converted to paths before being added to the source/ directory. This ensures the logo renders correctly on systems without the required fonts installed.

Typography
The wordmark uses the Manrope font. Specific weights are required for each part of the name:
- FOSS: Weight 700 (Bold)
- Billing: Weight 450 (Medium)

Asset Generation Workflow
The following diagram illustrates how source SVGs are processed into optimized assets and distribution files.
This workflow ensures that all generated assets are consistent with the source masters while providing multiple formats for different platforms.

Usage Restrictions
While FOSSBilling software is open source under the Apache 2.0 license, the branding (name and logo) is protected by copyright and subject to specific usage terms.

Prohibited Actions
- Modification: Do not modify the logo, change capitalization, or alter punctuation.

Legal and Licensing
The FOSSBilling branding project involves two distinct licensing models:
- Software License: The scripts used to generate these assets are part of the FOSSBilling ecosystem and fall under standard open-source terms.
- Font License: The Manrope font is distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which allows for modification and redistribution of the font software but does not apply to the FOSSBilling branding itself.
- Trademark/Copyright: The FOSSBilling name and logo are copyrighted. Usage as a business indicator or for personal services is prohibited without explicit permission.

Summary
The FOSSBilling branding system provides high-quality, optimized assets through a rigorous generation process that converts SVG masters into various web formats. Users must adhere to the color specifications and avoid unauthorized modifications or commercial use of the trademarks to maintain brand consistency.
