Frontend State Management

Introduction
Frontend state management in this project is handled through a combination of React Context, specialized custom hooks, and local component state. The system focuses on managing UI-specific states such as sidebar visibility, device responsiveness, and notification (toast) messaging.
The architecture prioritizes decoupled state logic, using a Provider pattern for global UI states and custom hooks to expose specific state slices and dispatchers to components.

Sidebar State Management
The sidebar utilizes a React Context-based approach to manage its collapsed/expanded state and responsiveness. It tracks the open state, a setOpen setter, and an isMobile flag.
State Context and Provider
The SidebarContext serves as the central store for sidebar properties. The SidebarProvider component initializes the state, including an open boolean and a setOpenProp callback for controlled usage. It also monitors keyboard shortcuts (e.g., Meta+B) to toggle the state.
The diagram above illustrates the distribution of sidebar state from the provider to functional sub-components.

Responsive Logic
The useIsMobile hook manages device-specific state by listening to the (max-width: 767px) media query. This state is consumed by the sidebar to determine if it should behave as a drawer or a persistent column.

Notification and Toast State
Toast notifications are managed via a centralized state machine implemented in use-toast.ts. This system handles a queue of toast notifications, including their addition, updating, and dismissal.
State Transitions
The toast state is updated through a reducer function that processes specific action types.
| Action Type | Description |
|---|---|
ADD_TOAST | Adds a new toast to the queue and keeps only the most recent ones (max 1). |
UPDATE_TOAST | Modifies properties of an existing toast. |
DISMISS_TOAST | Triggers the exit animation for a specific toast. |
REMOVE_TOAST | Removes the toast from the state completely. |

Toast Lifecycle Flow
The following sequence diagram shows the lifecycle of a notification from trigger to removal.
Component-Level State
Local state is utilized for UI interactions that do not require global synchronization. For example, the SidebarMenuAction component uses boolean flags to indicate active states or specific visual variations.

Conclusion
The frontend state management strategy emphasizes modularity. By isolating sidebar logic in its own provider and toast logic in a custom hook/reducer pattern, the application maintains a clean separation of concerns. This allows for scalable UI updates and responsive behavior without overloading the root component's state.
