Terms of Use & Analytics Policy

Introduction
The HoloPrint project establishes a framework for the legal use and data privacy of the application and its generated resource packs. This policy governs how users may distribute created content and defines the technical boundaries of data collection. All packs generated by the tool are automatically subject to specific licensing terms to prevent commercial exploitation while encouraging community sharing.
Users are notified of these terms via a notice on the main generation form, which links to the comprehensive policy effective as of November 17, 2024.

Usage Rights & Licensing
All resource packs generated through the HoloPrint web application are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license. This licensing is embedded directly into the manifest.json of every generated pack.
Commercial Restrictions
The primary restriction under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license is the prohibition of selling generated packs or placing them behind monetized gateways.
| Permission Type | Allowed | Disallowed |
|---|---|---|
| Educational | Writing blog tutorials or guides | N/A |
| Media | Showcasing packs in YouTube videos | N/A |
| Distribution | Direct downloads for the community | Using monetized shorteners (e.g., Linkvertise) |
| Access | Free access for all users | Paid subscriptions or forced wait-times |

Technical Implementation of License
The license is declared within the metadata section of the pack's manifest.json.

Data Collection & Analytics
HoloPrint employs a privacy-focused analytics system designed to track application usage without collecting identifiable user data or file contents.
Anonymized Structure Tracking
When a user generates a pack, the system computes a SHA-256 hash of the uploaded .mcstructure file. To ensure anonymity, only the first 4 bytes of this hash are recorded. This fragment serves as a unique identifier for statistical purposes (counting unique files) but is insufficient to reconstruct the original structure file or identify the user.
The diagram shows the data flow from file upload to anonymized logging.

Analytics Infrastructure
The project utilizes Supabase as a backend for recording pack creation events. Statistics are publicly logged in the holoprint-stats repository, which generates usage graphs and daily counts displayed in the project documentation.
| Component | Description | Reference |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase Project | Backend database for creation logs | gnzyfffwvulwxbczqpgl.supabase.co |
| Log Data | 4-byte hash fragment and timestamp | holoprint-stats repository |

Browser Storage & Privacy
HoloPrint adheres to a "no-cookie" policy. It does not use tracking cookies or persistent identifiers.
Local Storage Usage
The application utilizes the browser's Cache Storage only for technical performance. Specifically, it caches resource pack assets to accelerate the generation process. Users can manually clear this data via the "Clear resource pack cache" button in the application settings.

Third-Party Component Licensing
HoloPrint includes third-party assets which are governed by their respective licenses.
- Material Symbols: The icons used in the application are licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. This allows for reproduction and distribution provided the terms (including attribution) are met.
- External Documentation/Libraries: Credits are provided to various contributors (e.g., Structura, YuuhaLand) whose work or libraries (e.g., three.js, JSZip) form the foundation of the tool.

Conclusion
The HoloPrint policy prioritizes user privacy through aggressive anonymization and transparent non-commercial licensing. By restricting commercial use through the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license and limiting data collection to 4-byte hash fragments, the project maintains a community-oriented ecosystem while providing developers with necessary usage metrics.
