The Activity Feed & Notifications system tracks network changes and alerts you to significant events on your OpenWrt router. It records administrative actions, configuration changes, and network status updates into a chronological log. On Android devices, the system provides background monitoring to notify you of these events even when the application is not actively in use.
System Overview
The application monitors the router via the LuCI RPC interface to detect changes in network state or configuration. Events captured in the activity feed include client connections, firewall rule updates, service restarts, and system reboots. This monitoring occurs locally on your device; the application does not transmit activity data to external servers.

Key Components
The notification and activity system relies on several specialized libraries and platform permissions to function:
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Activity Feed | A persistent log of changes made to the router or detected in the network. |
| Workmanager | Handles background task scheduling for periodic router polling. |
| Flutter Local Notifications | Displays alerts on the device when significant events occur. |
| Android Permissions | Requires POST_NOTIFICATIONS on Android 13+ to show alerts. |

Background Monitoring Architecture
The background monitoring system allows the app to check for updates without user intervention. This flow is primarily utilized on Android to provide real-time alerts for network changes.
The diagram shows the logic flow for background monitoring, from the initial trigger to the notification of the user.

Implementation Details
Notification Infrastructure
The application integrates with native platform notification systems using flutter_local_notifications. On Android 13 and higher, the application explicitly requests the android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission. The app only prompts for this permission when you enable the background monitoring feature.

Data Privacy and Storage
Activity data and router event logs are stored locally. The application uses flutter_secure_storage for credentials required to poll the router, ensuring that background checks are performed securely. No usage data or activity logs are sent to third-party servers.

Event Types
The Activity Feed tracks several categories of operations:
- Configuration Edits: Changes to SSIDs, security, or firewall rules.
- System Actions: Router reboots and service starts/stops.
- Network Events: Monitoring of throughput, CPU load, and wireless signals.
- Client Monitoring: Changes in connected device lists.

Summary
Activity Feed & Notifications provide transparency into router management by logging historical changes and alerting you to real-time events. By utilizing background tasks and local notifications, the system ensures you remain informed of your network's status without compromising privacy, as all monitoring data remains on the local device.
