Project Roadmap
Relevant source files
The following files were used as context for generating this wiki page:The Vocabri project roadmap outlines the planned features and future development direction. The application is currently an offline-first tool for building a personal vocabulary. The roadmap indicates a clear path toward enhancing learning capabilities, improving data management, and expanding platform support.
The primary goals are to introduce interactive training modes, add word editing and discovery features, implement optional cloud synchronization, and release an iOS version of the application by leveraging the existing Kotlin Multiplatform shared module.

Planned Features
The following table summarizes the key features planned for future releases of Vocabri. All items are currently in the "Planned" stage.
| Feature | Description | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Training Mode | Quizzes, flashcards, and spaced repetition to help users learn words. | Planned |
| Discover and Search | Experiences for discovering new words and searching/filtering the dictionary. | Planned |
| Edit Existing Words | Functionality to modify words that have already been added. | Planned |
| Optional Cloud Sync | Synchronize user's vocabulary data across devices via the cloud. | Planned |
| iOS App | A native iOS application utilizing the existing KMP shared module. | Planned |

Training Mode
A significant planned addition is a "Training mode" designed to help users actively learn their saved vocabulary. This mode will include features like quizzes, flashcards, and spaced repetition algorithms. The application's UI already contains placeholders for this feature in the bottom navigation bar, labeled "Training".

The navigation graph includes a route to a TrainingScreen, which is currently a placeholder.

log.i { "Navigating to TrainingScreen" }
}

}

Discover and Search/Filter
The roadmap includes plans for "Discover and search/filter experiences." This suggests new functionality for users to find new words to add to their vocabulary and more powerful tools to search and filter their existing dictionary. The bottom navigation includes a "Discover More" tab, which currently leads to a placeholder screen.

Edit Existing Words
A core functionality improvement on the roadmap is the ability to "Edit existing words." Currently, the application supports adding and deleting words, but not modifying them after they have been saved. This feature will complete the basic CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations for vocabulary management.

Optional Cloud Sync
To move beyond a purely offline-first model, "Optional cloud sync" is planned. This will allow users to back up their vocabulary to the cloud and synchronize it across multiple devices. The current implementation only supports local device backup and transfer, as defined in the data extraction rules which include the vocabri.db database file.

iOS App
The project is structured to support an iOS application using the existing Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) shared module. This module is intended to contain common business logic, data handling, and repository patterns that can be used by both the Android and the future iOS app, reducing redundant code and effort.

Conclusion
The Vocabri roadmap outlines a strategic evolution from a simple, offline vocabulary builder to a comprehensive, multi-platform learning tool. The key development themes are enhancing the learning experience with interactive training, improving data management with editing and cloud sync capabilities, and expanding reach with a dedicated iOS application built upon a shared Kotlin Multiplatform core.
