Data Flow
Relevant source files
The following files were used as context for generating this wiki page:This document outlines the data flow within the AI Image Gen application, from user interactions in the UI to external API calls and local data persistence. The application is a client-side Single Page Application (SPA) built with React, where data management is primarily handled through component state and the browser's localStorage.
The core of the application's data management resides in the App.tsx component, which acts as the single source of truth for application state. This includes user inputs, generated image history, and the currently selected image. Data is passed down to child components as props, and state changes are triggered by event handlers that often call services defined in hfService.ts to interact with external AI models.
Core Application State and Persistence
The primary state is managed within the App.tsx component using React's useState hook. This state is the central hub for all dynamic data in the UI.

State Variables
The main state variables in App.tsx control the application's UI and logic.

currentImage | GeneratedImage | null | The image currently displayed in the main preview area. | [App.tsx:72](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/App.tsx#L72) |
isLoading | boolean | A flag to indicate when an image generation is in progress. | [App.tsx:70](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/App.tsx#L70) |
isUpscaling | boolean | A flag to indicate when an image upscale is in progress. | [App.tsx:71](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/App.tsx#L71) |
isComparing | boolean | A flag to enable the before/after upscale comparison view. | [App.tsx:78](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/App.tsx#L78) |
tempUpscaledImage | string | null | Stores the URL of the upscaled image temporarily during comparison. | [App.tsx:79](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/App.tsx#L79) |
showSettings | boolean | Controls the visibility of the settings modal. | [App.tsx:100](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/App.tsx#L100) |
Local Storage Persistence
The application uses the browser's localStorage to persist user data across sessions, ensuring a seamless experience. This is achieved using useEffect hooks.
- Image History: The
historystate, containing all generated images, is saved tolocalStorageunder the keyai_image_gen_history. On initialization, it loads this history and filters out any images older than one day.

- The HF token is read from and saved to
localStoragewith the keyhuggingFaceTokenwithin theSettingsModalcomponent. - The selected language is saved with the key
app_language.

Image Generation Flow
This sequence describes the process from a user clicking the "Generate" button to a new image appearing in the gallery.
This diagram shows the sequence of function calls for image generation, starting from the user action in App.tsx and flowing through hfService.ts to the external Hugging Face APIs.

Prompt Optimization Flow
The user can enhance their prompt using an external AI service.
This flow is initiated from App.tsx, calls the optimizePrompt function in hfService.ts, which then communicates with the pollinations.ai API to get an enhanced prompt.

Image Upscaling Flow
The upscaling process is a multi-step flow involving an API call, a temporary state for comparison, and a final user action to apply the changes.
This flowchart illustrates the states and function calls involved in the upscaling feature, from the initial user click to the final decision to keep or discard the upscaled image.

Data Structures
The primary data structure for representing a generated image is the GeneratedImage interface.
GeneratedImage Interface
This interface defines the shape of the object used to store all information about a single generated image.
| Field | Type | Description | Source File |
|---|---|---|---|
id | string | A unique identifier for the image, generated using crypto.randomUUID(). | [types.ts:4](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/types.ts#L4) |
url | string | The URL of the generated image file. | [types.ts:5](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/types.ts#L5) |
prompt | string | The text prompt used to generate the image. | [types.ts:6](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/types.ts#L6) |
aspectRatio | string | The aspect ratio of the image (e.g., "1:1"). | [types.ts:7](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/types.ts#L7) |
timestamp | number | The Unix timestamp (in milliseconds) of when the image was created. | [types.ts:8](https://github.com/charywind17/1mage/blob/HEAD/types.ts#L8) |

Conclusion
The data flow in the AI Image Gen application is designed around a centralized state management model within the main App.tsx component. Data flows unidirectionally from this parent component to child components like HistoryGallery. User actions trigger event handlers that orchestrate asynchronous operations with external services via hfService.ts. Finally, key application data such as image history and user settings are persisted in the browser's localStorage, making the application entirely client-side and privacy-focused.
