Package management in Acode encompasses the installation, updates, and maintenance of two primary software ecosystems: Acode plugins and Alpine Linux system packages within the built-in terminal. This system allows you to extend editor functionality through a dedicated Plugin Registry and manage development dependencies via the Linux Terminal.
Terminal Package Management
Acode provides a Linux terminal environment using proot with Alpine Linux. You manage system-level software using the apk (Alpine Package Keeper) tool.
The apk Package Manager
The terminal uses apk to handle software installation, removal, and repository synchronization.
The diagram shows the standard workflow for installing packages within the Acode terminal environment.

Common apk Commands
| Command | Action |
|---|---|
apk search <query> | Locates available packages in the repositories. |
apk add <package> | Installs a new package and its dependencies. |
apk del <package> | Removes an installed package. |
apk update | Refreshes the local index of available packages. |
apk upgrade | Upgrades all installed packages to their latest versions. |

Plugin Ecosystem Management
Acode features a robust plugin system managed through a centralized Plugin Registry. This system handles the distribution, installation, and lifecycle of extensions that interface with Acode's API.
Plugin Management Workflow
You interact with plugins through the Plugins page, which is divided into three distinct operational areas.
The sequence illustrates how the application fetches and registers plugins from the registry.

Plugin Management Tabs
| Tab | Functionality |
|---|---|
| Installed | Manage active plugins (Update, Configure, Uninstall). |
| Explore | Discover and download new tools from the registry. |
| Purchased | Retrieve and manage licenses for paid extensions. |

System Maintenance and State
Acode provides administrative controls to manage the installation state and recover from package corruption.
Clean Install State
If a plugin installation becomes stuck or fails, the Clean Install State setting allows you to clear pending or corrupted installation flags. This reset helps resolve conflicts in the plugin manager's internal registry.

Terminal Lifecycle Management
The terminal package environment supports full lifecycle operations through Terminal Settings.
- Backup: Archives the current terminal installation and configuration.
- Restore: Reinstalls the environment from a previous backup.
- Uninstall: Completely wipes the Alpine Linux environment and all installed
apkpackages.

Dependency Configuration
The project itself utilizes standard Node.js package management for its documentation and development tooling, as defined in the project root.
Development Dependencies
The project tracks several key development tools used to build and lint the documentation.
"devDependencies": {
"@biomejs/biome": "2.1.2",
"vitepress": "^1.2.3",
"vue": "^3.4.27"
}
Sources: package.json:16-20
Build Scripts
You manage the documentation environment using the following defined scripts:
npm run lint: Executes Biome for code analysis.npm run format: Applies formatting rules to the codebase.npm run docs:build: Compiles the VitePress documentation into a static site.

Summary
Package management in Acode is split between high-level editor extensions (Plugins) and low-level development environments (Terminal/APK). While plugins extend the UI and API capabilities of the editor, the Alpine Linux terminal provides a standard Linux environment for language runtimes and CLI tools. Both systems include recovery options like backup, restore, and state clearing to ensure environment stability.
