Deployment Options
Relevant source files
The following files were used as context for generating this wiki page:This document outlines the deployment process for the react-multi-step-form application. The project is bootstrapped with Create React App, which simplifies the build and deployment process into serving static files. A key consideration for deployment is the application's dependency on Google Firebase for backend data storage.
The primary deployment method involves generating a production-ready build of the React application, which can then be hosted on any static web server or hosting platform. The application's functionality relies on a connection to a configured Firebase project to persist form submission data.
Production Build
The project uses react-scripts to create an optimized production build. This is the standard procedure for deploying a Create React App project.

Build Script
The build process is initiated by running the following command, as defined in package.json:
npm run build
This command executes react-scripts build and prepares the application for deployment.

Build Process Flow
The npm run build command triggers a series of optimizations to ensure the application is performant and ready for a production environment. The output is a build directory containing all the necessary static assets.
The following diagram illustrates the high-level build process:
This diagram shows the steps executed by the npm run build script.

Deployment Strategy
Once the production build is created, the contents of the build folder can be deployed. This folder contains the index.html entrypoint and all the static JavaScript and CSS assets required to run the application.

Static Hosting
The build directory is self-contained and can be served by any static file hosting service. The README.md refers to the official Create React App documentation for detailed guides on deploying to various platforms.
Sources: README.md:65-66
Application Entry Point
The web server should be configured to serve the index.html file from the build directory. The React application is mounted into the DOM element with the ID root within this file.

Backend Service Configuration (Firebase)
The application is not purely static; it requires a connection to Google Firebase's Firestore to store the multi-step form data upon submission.
Sources: src/firebase.js, src/components/MultiStepForm.jsx:153-171
Firebase Configuration
The Firebase project credentials are included directly in the source code. For a production deployment, these credentials must be valid and the associated Firebase project must have Firestore enabled.
The configuration is defined as follows:
// src/firebase.js:4-11
const firebaseConfig = {
apiKey: "AIzaSyAoEkweCEECJa2dE9zL5euJuwaUU-zJ3lY",
authDomain: "react-multi-step-form-3706c.firebaseapp.com",
projectId: "react-multi-step-form-3706c",
storageBucket: "react-multi-step-form-3706c.appspot.com",
messagingSenderId: "909707174433",
appId: "1:909707174433:web:91d6a8bd6b31b91a61b960"
};
Sources: src/firebase.js:4-11
Note: Hardcoding API keys and configuration directly in the source is not a recommended security practice for production environments. These should typically be managed using environment variables.
Data Submission Flow
When a user completes the form and clicks "SUBMIT", the application sends the collected data to the formDetails collection in the configured Firestore database.
The following sequence diagram illustrates this flow:
This diagram shows the sequence of events when a user submits the form data to Firebase.

Available Scripts
The package.json file defines several scripts for development, testing, and deployment.
| Script | Description |
|---|---|
npm start | Runs the app in development mode at http://localhost:3000. The page reloads on changes. |
npm test | Launches the test runner in interactive watch mode. |
npm run build | Builds the app for production to the build folder. It bundles, optimizes, and minifies the code. |
npm run eject | One-way operation. Removes the single build dependency and copies configuration files (webpack, Babel, etc.) into the project for full control. Not recommended for most users. |

Summary
Deploying the react-multi-step-form application is a two-fold process. First, a static, production-optimized build of the React frontend is generated using the npm run build command. Second, these static files are hosted on a web server or cloud platform. For the application to be fully functional, the hosting environment must have network access to the Google Firebase project specified in the source code, as this is where all form data is persisted.
