UI Component Library (shadcn/ui)
Relevant source files
The following files were used as context for generating this wiki page:The project's frontend utilizes shadcn/ui, a component library built on top of Radix UI and Tailwind CSS. It is not a traditional component library published to npm. Instead, components are added to the codebase via a CLI tool, making them part of the project's source code. This approach provides maximum control over styling, behavior, and accessibility. The library is configured to use the "new-york" style, with lucide-react for icons.
The core philosophy is to provide unstyled, accessible primitives (from Radix UI) and then apply styles using Tailwind CSS utility classes. This creates a highly customizable and maintainable system for building the user interface, as seen in components like the LandingPage.jsx.
Configuration and Theming
The UI library's foundation is defined by several configuration files that control styling, theming, and component structure.
shadcn/ui Configuration
The primary configuration for shadcn/ui is located in components.json. This file dictates how the CLI tool integrates components into the project.
| Key | Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
style | new-york | The default visual style for components. |
rsc | false | Indicates that React Server Components are not used. |
tsx | false | Indicates that components are generated as .jsx files, not .tsx. |
tailwind.config | tailwind.config.js | Path to the Tailwind CSS configuration file. |
tailwind.css | src/index.css | Path to the main CSS file where Tailwind directives and base styles are defined. |
tailwind.baseColor | neutral | The base color palette used for theming. |
tailwind.cssVariables | true | Enables the use of CSS variables for theming. |
aliases.components | @/components | Path alias for the main components directory. |
aliases.utils | @/lib/utils | Path alias for utility functions. |
aliases.ui | @/components/ui | Path alias for the shadcn/ui components themselves. |

Tailwind CSS and Theming
Theming is achieved through a combination of Tailwind CSS configuration and CSS variables. The tailwind.config.js file extends the default Tailwind theme to use CSS variables defined in src/index.css. This allows for dynamic theming, such as switching between light and dark modes.
The diagram below shows the flow from CSS variable definition to component styling.
This diagram illustrates how CSS variables are defined and then consumed by Tailwind CSS to style components.
Sources: frontend/src/index.css:23-74, frontend/tailwind.config.js:14-55
The src/index.css file defines two sets of variables within @layer base, one for the default (light) theme and one for the .dark class.
Example CSS Variables (Light Theme):
:root {
--background: 0 0% 100%;
--foreground: 0 0% 3.9%;
--card: 0 0% 100%;
--primary: 0 0% 9%;
--secondary: 0 0% 96.1%;
--destructive: 0 84.2% 60.2%;
--border: 0 0% 89.8%;
--ring: 0 0% 3.9%;
--radius: 0.5rem;
}

Architecture and Dependencies
The UI library is built upon several key npm packages that provide the core functionality for components, styling, and utilities.
Core Dependencies
The package.json file lists the dependencies that form the backbone of the UI system.
This diagram shows the dependency hierarchy, from the application code down to the base React and Radix UI primitives.
Sources: frontend/package.json:5-46, frontend/src/components/ui/sheet.jsx, frontend/src/components/LandingPage.jsx:4-8
Key dependencies include:
@radix-ui/*: A collection of packages providing unstyled, accessible UI primitives (e.g.,@radix-ui/react-dialogfor modals and sheets,@radix-ui/react-menubar).tailwindcss: A utility-first CSS framework used for all styling.class-variance-authority: A utility for creating variants of components (e.g., different button sizes or colors).clsx&tailwind-merge: Utilities combined inlib/utils.jsto intelligently merge Tailwind CSS classes, preventing style conflicts.lucide-react: The icon library used throughout the components.

Component Structure
A typical component in src/components/ui/ follows a consistent pattern:
- It imports primitives from a corresponding
@radix-uipackage. - It imports the
cnutility function for class name merging. - It may import
cvato define style variants. - It exports a set of React components that wrap the Radix primitives, applying styles via the
classNameprop.
The Sheet component is a good example. It is built on top of @radix-ui/react-dialog.
This diagram shows how the Sheet component is a styled wrapper around the Dialog primitive from Radix UI.

The sheetVariants constant uses cva to define different styles based on the side prop (top, bottom, left, right), which controls the sheet's entry and exit animations.

Available Components
The project includes a variety of pre-built UI components located in frontend/src/components/ui/. These components are used to construct the application's views, such as the LandingPage.jsx.
| Component | File Path | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Sheet | sheet.jsx | A side panel that slides in from the edge of the screen. Built on Radix Dialog. |
| Menubar | menubar.jsx | A classic menu bar component for desktop-style navigation. Built on Radix Menubar. |
| Command | command.jsx | A command palette component for search and actions. Built on cmdk. |
| Tabs | tabs.jsx | A set of layered sections of content, known as tab panels. Built on Radix Tabs. |
| Button | button.jsx | A button component with variants for style, size, etc. |
| Card | card.jsx | A container for grouping related content. |
| Badge | badge.jsx | A small component for displaying status or labels. |
| Input | input.jsx | A styled form input element. |
| Textarea | textarea.jsx | A styled form textarea element. |

Usage Example
The LandingPage.jsx component demonstrates how these UI components are composed to build a complex page. It imports multiple components from the components/ui directory and uses them to structure the hero, about, services, and contact sections.
// frontend/src/components/LandingPage.jsx:4-8
import { Button } from './ui/button';
import { Input } from './ui/input';
import { Textarea } from './ui/textarea';
import { Card, CardContent } from './ui/card';
import { Badge } from './ui/badge';
// ... later in the component
<Badge className="mb-6 bg-blue-100 text-blue-800 border-blue-200">
Transforming Leaders Since 2018
</Badge>
<h1 className="text-5xl lg:text-6xl font-bold text-gray-900 mb-6 leading-tight">
Unlock Your Full
<span className="bg-gradient-to-r from-blue-600 to-indigo-600 bg-clip-text text-transparent"> Potential</span>
</h1>
<Button size="lg" className="bg-gradient-to-r from-gray-800 to-black text-white ...">
Book Your Free Strategy Session
<ArrowRight className="ml-2 h-5 w-5" />
</Button>
This snippet from LandingPage.jsx shows the direct usage of Badge and Button components to build the hero section.

Conclusion
The shadcn/ui implementation in this project provides a powerful and flexible system for building the user interface. By keeping components within the local source tree and leveraging the combination of Radix UI for accessibility and Tailwind CSS for styling, the architecture promotes consistency, customizability, and long-term maintainability. This setup allows developers to rapidly build complex, visually appealing, and accessible user experiences as demonstrated by the LandingPage.jsx.
