The development server is a core component of this project, providing a local environment for running and testing the Next.js application. It is bootstrapped using create-next-app and is configured for a rapid development workflow, featuring live-reloading and optimized performance through Turbopack. The server allows developers to see their changes instantly in the browser by modifying the source files.
The primary entry point for application content is src/app/page.tsx, which is rendered within the main RootLayout defined in src/app/layout.tsx. The development environment is launched via a simple NPM script and is accessible by default at http://localhost:3000.

Getting Started
To start the development server, you must run one of the specified commands from the project's root directory. The server will then be available on the local machine.

Launch Commands
The project supports several package managers for launching the development server. The primary script is dev, which utilizes Next.js with Turbopack for faster performance.
npm run dev
# or
yarn dev
# or
pnpm dev
# or
bun dev

Core Configuration
The development server's behavior is defined by several configuration files that manage scripts, dependencies, and compiler settings.
NPM Scripts
The package.json file defines the scripts available for managing the application lifecycle.
| Script | Command | Description |
|---|---|---|
dev | next dev --turbopack | Starts the Next.js development server with Turbopack, an incremental bundler optimized for speed. |
build | next build | Creates an optimized production build of the application. |
start | next start | Starts a Next.js production server after a build has been completed. |
lint | next lint | Runs ESLint to find and fix problems in the codebase. |
Sources: package.json:6-10
Dependencies
The server relies on a set of core dependencies for its functionality.
| Dependency | Version | Description |
|---|---|---|
next | 15.3.2 | The React framework for building the application. |
react | ^19.0.0 | A JavaScript library for building user interfaces. |
react-dom | ^19.0.0 | Serves as the entry point to the DOM and server renderers for React. |
typescript | ^5 | A typed superset of JavaScript that compiles to plain JavaScript. |
tailwindcss | ^4 | A utility-first CSS framework for rapid UI development. |

TypeScript Configuration
The tsconfig.json file configures the TypeScript compiler. Key settings for the development server include:
target: "ES2017": Specifies the ECMAScript target version.module: "esnext": Uses the latest ECMAScript module syntax.jsx: "preserve": Keeps JSX syntax in the output to be processed by another tool (Next.js).plugins: Includes thenextplugin for integration with the Next.js toolchain.paths: Defines a path alias@/*to simplify imports from thesrcdirectory.

Next.js Configuration
The next.config.ts file is where Next.js-specific options are set. In this project, it is currently empty but serves as the designated location for future customizations.

Live Reloading and Application Structure
The development server provides an instant feedback loop by automatically updating the application in the browser as files are saved. This feature is central to the development experience.

The following sequence diagram shows how a file change triggers a browser update.

Application Entrypoint
The main page content is defined in src/app/page.tsx. Any modifications to this file are immediately reflected on the home page (/).

Root Layout and Global Styles
The root structure of every page is controlled by src/app/layout.tsx. This component wraps the page content (children) and defines the base <html> and <body> tags. It also imports and applies global fonts and styles.
The RootLayout component imports global styles from src/app/globals.css, which includes Tailwind CSS directives and custom CSS variables for theming.
This diagram shows the component hierarchy.
