Source of Truth & Canonical Registry
Relevant source files
The following files were used as context for generating this wiki page:
The Imperial Archive maintains a governed knowledge infrastructure where authority and identity are strictly defined. The Source of Truth (SoT) establishes the hierarchy of information, while the Canonical Registry serves as the central inventory for all verified entities, brands, and projects. Together, these systems ensure that the project preserves its origin and governs its own evolution without external interference.

Source of Truth (SoT)
The Source of Truth defines which information takes precedence when conflicts arise. It operates under a strict hierarchy where the Founder's direct decisions hold the highest authority. No platform or automated agent can override these canonical definitions.
Precedence Hierarchy
Information validity follows a numbered precedence list. A source with a higher precedence number (where 1 is highest) wins over lower-ranked sources. If two items have the same precedence, the entry with the newer date wins. If dates are also identical, the Founder makes the final decision.
| Rank | Source | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | FOUNDER_CANONICAL_DECISION | Direct decision from Latifah Almutairi |
| 2 | CANONICAL_REPOSITORY_MAIN | The main branch of the GitHub repository |

Operational Rules
The SoT system enforces seven core rules (SOT-R1 through SOT-R7) to manage data integrity:
- Conflict Logging: All conflicts must be logged before resolution.
- Resolution: Every resolution must be recorded in the
decision-log.yml. - No Overrides: External platforms and AI agents cannot override canonical repository settings or founder decisions.

Canonical Registry
The Canonical Registry is the authoritative inventory of all entities within the Imperial Archive. It tracks the status and ownership of companies, brands, projects, and technical infrastructure.
Entity Management
The registry organizes components into structured categories to maintain a clear chain of command and ownership.
The diagram shows the hierarchical relationship between the founder, the core company, and its subsidiary brands and projects.

Governance Integration
The Source of Truth and Canonical Registry integrate with the Change Control and Decision Log systems to maintain a "Locked Canonical" status.
Decision Flow
This diagram illustrates how a change proposed by the Founder is validated against the Source of Truth before updating the Canonical Registry and Decision Log.

Change Classification
Changes affecting the registry are classified by severity:
- CRITICAL: Requires Founder approval, PR review, and signed commit.
- MAJOR: Requires Founder approval and PR review.
- MINOR: Requires PR review.
- PATCH: Requires self-review.
